International cooperation between AVL DiTEST and KTM

By 2009, Europe’s second largest motorcycle manufacturer, KTM Sportmotorcycle AG, will have equipped all of its 1,500 authorized specialist workshops with AVL DiTEST test systems.
AVL DiTEST is the full service brand for all KTM and Husaberg workshops for ECU communication. They are also working together on developing a vehicle diagnosis platform, including annual software updates. Barbara Kenedi, head of the Customer Service department at KTM, explains the decision for international cooperation in saying: “Given the geographical proximity of the two companies, we have already been able to cooperate from very early on in the developmental stage. At the same time, given the global presence of AVL DiTEST, we also have a sound basis for after sales service at our workshops.”
KTM currently produces 85,000 motorcycles internationally and has 1,500 specialist workshops. They are currently working on expanding the product range to include four-wheelers, and on developing powerful engines and innovative motorcycle models.

Also 2007 AVL DiTEST carried the participants of the Ennstal-Classic through and provided for an indulgence of the environment.

Due to the enormous success in 2006 we have doubled our team and tested the majority of the participating vehicles in two boxes. Owing to the free analysis of ignition voltage and exhaust emission characteristics many pilots were able to optimize their classic cars and reach their destination safely and environmentally friendly. Also Peter Kraus and rallye champion Earl Ernst Harrach brought their classic car treasures to the expert check-up of the AVL DiTEST team before the competition.
For the first time Gerald Lackner, president of the AVL DiTEST group and Ingo Glatter, Director Sales and Marketing followed their passion for classics of vehicle history. Together with business partners they achieved the goal of this extraordinary and difficult race.

AVL DiTEST – Manfred Stohl/OMV World Rally Team technical partnership

Speed counts from the starting line on, and correct results can make the race. That’s why Manfred Stohl/OMV World Rally Team relies on AVL’s fast and technically mature tools.
Manfred Stohl, recognized front-runner in the FIA World Rally Championship and several national rally competitions and acknowledged as one of the surprises of this year’s world championship season, is extending his outstanding placing through application of the latest AVL DiTEST instruments.
There is no other motor sport class in which it is more important to be able to check out vehicles in the shortest possible time and get them into perfect shape. Because rally regulations prescribe not only what work may be executed on a rally car but also the time available to do it. Going over time in the service area means big time penalties or even exclusion from competition.
The AVL DiX Drive helps to test these vehicles with their highly complex electronics in the shortest possible time, and get them into shape, aided by menu-driven operation. The application of AVL DiTEST instruments in one of the highest classes of motor sport is a compelling challenge for AVL DiTEST’s specialists. The benefits of this collaboration pass straight into volume production at AVL DiTEST. This is to the benefit of all AVL DiTEST customers in turn because, now more than ever, speed counts when test organizations or vehicle workshops are analyzing their customers’ vehicles and getting them back into shape.
In motor sport it’s your placing right after the checkered flag that counts. For AVL DiTEST’s partners the important thing being able to satisfy their customers in the shortest possible time – with commercial success.
