AVl DITEST launches its latest all-in-one diagnostic solution

GRAZ/FÜRTH – AVL DITEST is starting 2012 with a system overhaul! Austria’s leading manufacturer of motor diagnostic systems (www.avlditest.at) is now providing its partner workshops with its latest, highly efficient innovation: the MDS Modular Diagnostic Station. A special feature of this product is the new XDS 1000 diagnostic software. Its intuitive user interface and highly developed software functions are designed to tackle the ever increasing complexity of diagnostic testing.

An efficient workshop needs to be kept neat and tidy. The new AVL DITEST MDS (Modular Diagnostic System) trolley has been designed with tidiness in mind. The modular platform can be configured to meet each workshop's individual requirements and further modules can be added to create a complete diagnostic station. The trolley accommodates a PC, measuring equipment, an exhaust test module, an opacimeter and a printer. The connection cables and tubes can be easily accessed on the back of the MDS and the mouse can either be placed to the right or to the left of the keyboard. The AVL DITEST MDS is replacing the AVL DiX series which was launched in 2003 and has sold 5000 times to date. A core component of the MDS product range is the new XDS 1000 diagnostic software. This automatically checks every vehicle system for control unit data, fault status and supported functions.

A thorough scan in no time
Modern cars can contain up to 100 control units. These are interlinked and affect almost all of the vehicle's functions. It therefore comes as no surprise that searching for a fault in one of these functions often becomes the proverbial hunt for a needle in a haystack. However, the new software, eXperienced Diagnostic Solution (XDS 1000) from AVL DITEST, is designed to give the operator a helping hand, guiding you through the diagnostic procedure in three simple steps. The first step is to select the vehicle series and the year the vehicle was built from the options on the screen. You don't need to have any detailed knowledge of the engine type or the types of control unit since this information is automatically provided by the diagnostic device. The next step is to connect the system to the OBD connector. To make this easier, XDS 1000 even shows you where the connector is. Once connected, the auto-scan starts up. The auto-scan doesn't take long (just 90 seconds for some vehicles) to check through all the control units and export the errors it finds. This saves the mechanic a lot of time and enables them to immediately give the customer a good overview of the situation without having to check each and every control unit first.

Groundbreaking technology for our customers
According to Gerald Lackner, Chairman of the AVl DITEST Board of Directors, the company is the first manufacturer that has ever decided to launch an entirely new product instead of upgrading an existing system. "To develop XDS 1000 was extremely expensive for us since the software had to be reprogrammed from scratch. This move has however brought us a groundbreaking solution which we can now pass on to our customers." Its incredible communication speed makes the XDS 1000 a highly efficient diagnostic tool which is also easy to use. "Definitely a sound investment for any workshop," says Lackner.

A brand new feature of XDS 1000 is its continuous on-board voltage monitoring. Further improvements include simplified licence administration for any number of PCs (no need for any copyright protection devices/dongles) and very quick service resets. Despite all the new features, the price remains unchanged. The head of AVL DITEST promises that "All existing customers with a diagnostic update contract will receive a free upgrade to XDS 1000."
